Description
The Revised 8th edition (not updated because of the difficulties during Covid) is my last. After thirty years of compiling this guide, I’m handing over the helm to Rachael Sprot. She’s working on a new edition right now which will be available in a year or two. In the meantime, go to Imray for updates: https://www.imray.com/product/The-Shell-Channel-Pilot/IB0202-2/. Scroll down to Supplement.
Thanks for supporting me during my incumbency with your many helpful suggestions and updates.

The Shell Pilot covers the South Coast of England, the North Coast of France and the Channel Islands. This time, the text has been organised into sections. Each is prefaced by passage notes which are more comprehensive than previously, lifting the work far above any simple harbour guide. Every harbour has a handy information box where you can find tidal information, streams, depths, contact details and difficulty of entry. Best of all remain the pilotage notes, the plans, the aerial and approach shots for harbours great and obscure, plus frank remarks about shoreside facilities. The net result is unique – rigorous navigation advice to pilot you safely through the rocks, spiced with a light touch guaranteed to raise a salty chuckle on winter evenings while you plan next summer’s voyaging.

User’s comments: Thank you so much for your efforts to maintain the Shell Channel Pilot to the high levels it has reached.
We sailed the South Coast this summer and would have been deaf and blind without your guidance and advice. Not once did we find the information wrong or outdated.
You certainly added to the holiday experience.
We particularly liked your wit and humour in the descriptions of towns, pubs and mooring places!
